Scientific Excursion with the Director Hannah Pomella
During this guided excursion, geologist and Director of GEOPARC Bletterbach, Hannah Pomella, leads you through the impressive gorge in the southern part of South Tyrol, between Aldino and Redagno. She explains why this place is of great importance to the international scientific community and offers insights into her work within the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
In a clear and accessible way, she shows how researchers use rock layers and fossils to reconstruct the history of the Earth and its climate hundreds of millions of years ago and why this knowledge is still highly relevant today.
Hannah Pomella has been Director of GEOPARC Bletterbach since 2025. Previously, she was Associate Professor of Geology at the University of Innsbruck. For more than 20 years, she has focused on the formation of the Alps, with special attention to the geology of South Tyrol.
