| Mountainbike: Radein – Jochgrimm – Auer Leger |
Starting point: gravel car park right of the main road shortly before Oberradein Distance: ca. 12 km Difference in altitude: 760 m Possibilities for refreshments: Inn Nigglhof, Alpine hut Gurndin, Inn Jochgrimm, Hotel Schwarhorn, Alpine hut Auerleger Description of tour: This tour begins in Oberradein by the panorama board below the "Nigglhof" inn. It climbs quite evenly on a good forest road through beautiful Alpine evergreens, until one reaches the tree-line. Splendid Alpine meadows open out in front of you, dotted with larches and pines. Follow the road, turning left as far as the Alpine hut Gurndin (1952 m) and cycle on over an almost level stretch as far as Inn Jochgrimm and Hotel Schwarzhorn, which are situated between the peaks of the Weisshorn and the Schwarzhorn. Now follow the metalled road in the direction of Lavazè, branch left at the first junction and descend to the Alpine hut Auerleger. Take the same route back to the starting point. Special tip: In the geological museum of Radein there are display cases with scientifically-based, easily comprehensible explanations, which take the visitor through millions of years of the earth’s history, and show them the origins and geological evolution of the Dolomites. A vertical graphic display gives insight into the sequence of rock strata and sediment of the Bletterbach area, ranging from Bozen quartz porphyry to Gröden sandstone, Bellerophon and Werfen strata, and sarl dolomite.

| Mountainbike: Alpine hut Schmieder – Neuhütt – Alpine hut Auerleger - Jochgrimm |
Starting point: Alpine hut Schmieder Distance: ca. 15 km Difference in altitude: 320 m Possibilities for refreshments: Alpine hut Schmieder, Alpine hut Schönrast, Alpine hut Auerleger, Inn Jochgrimm, Hotel Schwarzhorn, Alpine hut Gurndin Description of tour: The tour begins by the Alpine hut Schmieder. Take the gravel road as far as the Alpine hut Schönrast, and then go right, after the alpine hut, on the route to the Kösertal. Now continue straight on, following the signs for Neuhütt-Lavazè Nr.9, through shady pinewoods as far as Neuhütt, and on an almost level stretch further to the Alpine hut Auerleger. Cycle along the metalled road right, turning right by the forest pole up to the Lavazè road and further right to Jochgrimm (2000 m.) and as far as the Alpine hut Gurndin. To return take route Nr. 1 from Jochgrimm, through alternating meadows and woods as far as Neuhütt, then along the forest road to the Kösertal and back to the Alpine hut Schmieder. Special tip: The Weisshorn is white sarl dolomite, the Schwarzhorn is reddish-green Bozen quartz porphyry. The reason for the very different nature of the neighbouring peaks is the so-called "Trudner line", a fault in the earth’s crust. Along this fault line the Schwarzhorn was pushed up over 1000 meters relative to the Weisshorn. The strata lying on the porphyry were carried away. As a result, the porphyry reaches the same height today as the much younger sarl dolomite.
