From farm to farm

Aldein is one of the very old settlements which are situated deep in the mountain range of the so-called "Reggleberg". The undulating landscape of this particularly attractive high plateau was settled early on and first mentioned in documents dating from 1175. Mountain meadows, arable land, larch woods and Alpine pastures alternate here.

Special tip: The restored "Mühlen im Thal" (mills in the valley) and the Aldein Village Museum. In the Mill Museum the visitor can see the use made of water power in the days of our ancestors. The museum in the Aldein village hall is not a village museum in the usual sense. No farm worker’s or craftsman’s tools are exhibited here, but religious items from the Baroque and Rococo periods, in such numbers and artistic quality that all the experts are amazed.

Kronberg - Lerch

Starting point: the car park by the fire brigade hall below the village centre of Aldein
Walking time: ca. 3 hours

Special tip: From the farm Leitner or the Inn Schlögler there are splendid views of the Etsch Valley, the Ötztaler Alps, the Ortler, the Fleimstaler mountains, the Brenta range, Paganella, Weisshorn, Schwarzhorn, Lagorai, Cislon, Trudner Horn Nature Park, the Salurn Gap etc.
Some of the farmhouses in Aldein have their own bread baking ovens. These are still used once or twice a year, even nowadays, to bake the well-known local breads, the Aldein "Breatlen" and "Pitschen".
