Pietralba – Aldeiner Alms – circular ramble

Route: From the pilgrimage place take the forest route Nr. 2 in the direction of Petersberger Leger to Neuhütt, and further to the Alpine hut Auerleger. On the footpath 509 go up to the Hoferwiese meadow, and from there follow footpath Nr. 1 back to join the forest road. Continue on this, following the signs for 5 or 5A in the direction of Kösertal. In the Kösertal take footpath S over the Rappenkanzel as far as the Alpine hut Schmieder. Continue further to the Alpine hut Schönrast and then back to the pilgrimage church of Maria Weissenstein.
Special tip: Maria Weissenstein is the most important place of pilgrimage in South Tyrol. Its history began in 1553 when a farmer, Leonhard Weissensteiner, found a holy statue of the Virgin. The "Leonhard hermitage" can be visited to this day – 20 minutes from the car park.
